The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are blooming. That means summer is finally here! As I drive through our town, I am always reminded of how lucky we are to have so many local farm stands in the area – is there anything better than a ripe, juicy tomato that was grown right in your own town?
As we all know, the beautiful weather only lasts for so long, so I hope you get outside and enjoy some of the many things we have to offer in our town. I invite you to come to the Town Hall and delight in the beautiful flower beds that are maintained by our Rush Recreation and Parks Volunteers and then stop into the library for their Bee themed summer programs because we all Bee-long in the library! As always, the playground is open, and you may notice the new trees that were planted by the Rush Henrietta Rotary club that our families will enjoy for years to come. I encourage you to look at the many new Town Recreation programs we have this summer including, horseback riding lessons for kids and adults through A Horses Friend. The New York Museum of Transportation and the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum both have opened for the season, check their websites for the many events they host all summer long. Let’s not forget the Rush Fireman’s Carnival that will be held this year August 10-12. As always there will be rides, food, music, and a good time!
At the end of June, our Highway Superintendent, Mark David, will be retiring after 40 years with the town. We thank Mark for all his years of service and hope he enjoys the rest of his days fishing and relaxing.
Our Town Board has continued to work on the proposed water district and although it is a slow process we are moving forward and will continue to keep you updated. I encourage you to periodically check our town website and sign up for our email notifications, so you are always up to date with what’s going on here in Rush.
As always, my door is always open!
